In two days, I'll be heading with a group of women from Gainesville, GA to New Orleans, LA. I'm so excited to be going! We'll be departing the morning of January 16th and return back to Gainesville on the 21st.
There will be 12 of us altogether ministering in an area of New Orleans that has seen the most numbers since Katrina. Our AIM staff there has checked out the area and feel it is safe for us to work in the area during the day. We'd appreciate your prayers on our behalf, both before we go and while we're there.
Some of the ministry we'll be doing there:
Friday, we'll be going to Central City Missions and do some prayer covering before the ministry begins. We'll then get food ready to distribute and then help in the distribution. Some of the team will be distributing food and others will be manning a prayer table. This is going to be an awesome time to get to know the neighborhood locals.
In the afternoon, there's an ATL (Ask the Lord) time planned, but there will also be a few other ministry options as well.
Saturday, the team will coming alongside Vieux Carre Baptist Chruch in the heart of the French Quarter and help pray, prepare and sever lunch to the homeless. We'll also be taking Bibles to pass out. We'll be prayer walking the area before ministry begins.
Saturday afternoon, we'll be doing a rose-planting ministry in Central City. They've had a murder a day since the New Year and we'll be teaming up with Sharon Henry who is planting roses at all of the murder sites. Sharon will pass out flyers ahead of time to let the neighborhood know what we will be doing and she'll be inviting the victim's families to attend as well. We'll clean up trash and plant roses in memorial to the victims and potentially minister to the victim's families.
So, a great deal of hand on ministry and prayer will be going on. I would appreciate your prayer covering as we enter the enemy's territory to gain ground back for the LORD. Pray that we will be covered in His armor and that His light and truth will go forward! Also pray that we will all have ears sensitive to the LORD, hearts that are open to Him, and minds, hands and feet that are willing to do whatever He asks of us.
I will look forward to sharing with you next week about the time there! Thank you in advance for praying!
