What an interesting new technological breakthrough! A Blog!

Where does one start to tell others about one's life? The beginning? Are we sure we want to go that far back? That's more than a few miles down the road, you know!

I'm currently the Real Life Mission Teams Administrator, doing all sorts of administrative stuff, but also doing my FAVE thing to do: be relational with young adults! This journey has been going on since the program started in 2000 and I have to admit, I love talking with the potential participants on the phone and hearing their hearts for the Lord!

I'm a Northern girl by birth, born and raised in the Brookville, PA area. Brookville is not a huge town, even though, it is the county seat for Jefferson County. My "home" town, if you can call it that, is Baxter, about 5 miles south of Brookville. Population, roughly, 400+, more or less (sometimes more, sometimes less). Lived there all of my childhood until I moved into my first apartment at the ripe old age of 27 in the big borough of Brookville.

Another fun fact about Brookville: each June, they hold a weeklong event, the Laurel Festival. Celebrates the nearby mountain laurel fields - and for those who don't know, the mountail laurel is Pennsylvania's state flower. Very pretty (I think so!) to look at.

Brookville is also about 20 miles north of Punxsutawney, home of the famous rodent, Phil, along State Route 36. Personally, I've never had me a hankerin' to go to Punxsy (as the locals call the town) to see the groundhog, whether it was on Groundhog Day or any other time of the year. Imagine my chagrin upon moving to Georgia and finding out that this state also has it's own rodent mascot for Groundhog Day!

I'm the eldest child in my family, with a younger brother (George- about 2 1/2 years younger), and three sisters (Melissa, 8 years younger; Sheila (10 years younger); and Charlotte (19 years younger). Yes, I grew up babysitting, looking after, chasing down, transporting, and hanging out with my siblings, mostly my sisters. Although, I do remember playing cars and trucks in the driveway with my brother! All of my siblings are married now and live in Pennsylvania in fairly close proximity to my parents. Me, I'm the traveler! I'm here in GA, 14-15 hours away!

More to come later!
