Here it is, mid-February, and I'm winding down my day, as well as my week. There's a newsletter on my desk that is waiting to be folded and prepped to be mailed. To have it written is great! Now, if I could just get the envelopes and labels ready. Part of my slowness is due, in part, to my updating addresses.

It amazes me, sometimes, how much things change over time. Take contact information, for instance. Used to be that you could mail a letter for 5 cents (it's been so long that I don't know if that has been in my lifetime or not!); now it's 39! Just today, I am working at updating addresses that used to be Rural Routes to whatever the new addresses are. It can be kind of confusing! I remember, too, when my parents were on a party line for the phone and you had to dial it on a rotary dial. I haven't seen one of those in a LONG time! And whomever thought of speed dial should get a prize!

I think about changes I've seen in my lifetime:

-Manual typewriters to electric typewriters to word processors to computers

-The look of cars and how they are fueled

-Clothing styles

-Hair styles

-My face in the mirror (not to mention seeing my hair go from a natural red to natural blond)

Some changes are good, some just take time getting used to. Me, I think I'm not always sure how to handle change. Part of me resists until I've figured out what is going on and then I embrace it. Sometimes, though, it is easier to revert to what has worked in the past.

All this makes me think of how faithful God is to us. That we can count on Him to not change His address on us and we can always find Him at home! All we need do is stand at the door and knock and He invites us in! How grateful I am for His unchanging and unfailing love for me. His willingness to welcome me to Himself causes praise to well up within and I worship Him for Who He is. And even in the midst of change all around me, there is nothing that can ever seperate me from the love I find in Him!
